Support

Thank you for visiting our Support page.

The Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra is a not-for-profit charity organisation, run solely by a committee of volunteers.  Contrary to popular belief, we do not receive any regular grants or funding from any government.  Whilst income from ticket sales helps to cover most operational costs, we also rely on donations and sponsorships to make ends meet.

We love what we do, and we love the positive impact on our audience and community when we get together and produce beautiful music for the soul.  If you would like to support the NRSO, there are many ways you can help us!

  • Donating cash. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and receipts are supplied.
    • On our website (via credit card) –  click here
    • When purchasing tickets online (via credit card)
    • In person at the concert (cash or credit card).  Please note that credit card merchant fees can be significant for the NRSO (1.6%-2.5%) and we always welcome cash donations at our concerts.
  • Donating a raffle prize – an item, a service, or even a gift voucher
  • Corporate sponsorships are welcome and we would be pleased to discuss our range of sponsorship benefits.
  • Helping us write a grant application. If you have expertise in this area, we would love to hear from you!
  • Volunteering with us
    • Helping to set up / pack up concert venue
    • Lending your time and expertise in IT / audio-visual / social media
    • Ushering / front-of-house assistance (subject to availability)
  • Help us spread a good word in your community – put up a nice post on your Facebook page, distribute flyers in your neighbourhood and social circles, write a complimentary letter to the local paper, tell people at your workplace, add NRSO concerts in your community newsletters, and so on! We would be very happy and grateful for you to spread positive messages.  (If you have any grievances, please contact us directly so that we may have the opportunity to resolve them with you.)
  • Last but not least, support by attending our concerts
    • Bring a friend
    • Bring a student or a child. People under 18 years enter free when accompanied by a paying adult.  One adult can bring multiple children, all for free.  We would love to introduce young people to their local orchestra and encourage them to attend – they are the future of our classical music.
    • Tell all your family and friends!

If you would like to help with any of the above, please contact us.

Our thank-you

Our sincere thanks go to all of our Friends and Supporters both individual and corporate.  Every donation is gratefully appreciated, and every little bit goes a long way towards our future concerts in the Gold Coast-Tweed region.

We thank the Tweed Shire Council for its in-kind support of storage space and providing the venue hire at reduced charges.

We sincerely thank all of our core musicians whose ongoing loyalty and generosity allows us to continue keeping the dream alive.

We thank all of our volunteers at the front of house, without whom it would not be possible to organise the concerts.

We thank our committee members who have dedicated months, years, and even decades to the orchestra.

And finally, we thank you, our audience members, for your ongoing support and attendance.
